When they first launched their 4K resolution TV in early 2013 companies sell each unit between $9,000 and $25,000, but in 2014 they sell it for only $ 3,000 in order to popularize the UHD technology even though the 4K contents that are available now have still been poor.

According to The Wall Street Journal, previously, when they for the first time launched the 4K UHD TV models, TV manufacturer announced a relatively high price, from $9,000 to $25,000. However, to expand the coverage of users of the UHD technology, companies like Sony and LG now produce UHD TV models that sell for only for $3,000 - $4,500. This attractive price is predicted to attract more and more buyers of UHD TV despite the fact that the 4K sources of contents have now been far from rich. Recently, the Japanese Toshiba TV has introduced a 55-inch UHD TV at $2,850. Meanwhile, some Chinese TV manufacturers also launched UHD TV models under $ 1,000.
The UHD TV technology, also known as 4K, provides 4,000 pixels resolution images horizontally and compared to the Full HD, it promises to provide images with 4 times higher quality. Big TV companies now often produce UHD TV at least 55 inches.
According to NPD Display Search, the number of UHD TV launched to the market in 2013 was 1,9 units, and 1,7 of which has been sold in China. NPD forecasts that this figure will be raised to 12.7 million units in 2014, taking up about 6% of the flat screen TV market. China manufactures about 78% of the TV UHD in the world. NPD also predicts about 800,000 TV UHD will be sold in the North America market in 2014.
According to NPD, in 2014 UHD TV models will be sold in China at the average price of $ 973, compared to $ 1,288 in 2013. NPD estimates this price shall be between $ 1,637 and 4,313 in other countries.
